Open-Source Functional Safety in Practice: A Working Integration of Eclipse S-CORE and Linux

The transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs) demands a robust, scalable, and safety-compliant software foundation.
While the industry has long debated whether open-source software (OSS) is ready for safety-critical use, there is growing evidence that it can be — given the right components, processes, and engineering discipline.
What is still needed are concrete integration demonstrations that go beyond individual components.

Oliver Pajonk presents a working integration of the Eclipse S-CORE platform and EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications — a complete, open-source software stack for ISO 26262-compliant automotive systems.
Going beyond architectural concepts, this talk walks through an end-to-end integration demonstration: a running system that combines both components into a coherent stack on representative hardware.

The result is a concrete data point: an open-source, functionally safe software stack is achievable, and the remaining challenges are engineering problems rather than fundamental blockers.
